| In spite of modern facilities , CCTV in the foaling boxes and other 'Gizmos ' designed to predict an immanent birth , our mare Isengard took everyone by surprise this time. Her Trakehner foal was born at approximately 4 am. in her grass paddock . She showed none of her normal signs of labour. Although she had " bagged up " there was no waxing of her teats nor signs of discomfort that is normally displayed.
Thankfully she needed no assistance.
