Carthano I Z amply bestowed with show jumping qualities , was discovered during the stallion selection of the Holstein Studbook in November 2006. His sire Contender with more than forty licensed sons , belongs to one of the most influential stallions with German show jumping horse breeding.

European Champion Montender and World Cup winner Checkmate are two famous offspring of Contender in International show jumping.

The dams line goes back via the blood  of the stallions Carthago Z and Leonardo I to the mare Mechthild from the successful Holstien line 2067.

The famous show jumping horse Leonardo ridden by Franke Sloothaak is also bred out of Mechthild. Like the great sire Sandro Z , also Mechthild is a product of the successful combination of Sacramento Song xx with Wahnfried. This family also produced the International show jumping horses Sympatico (Sacramento Song xx ) , Gondoso , Cattani , Conspirito , Cassandra , Leonidas and Lordon.
